Subtle promotions is proud to bring one of the pioneering dj’s of the Dubstep sound, rinse.fm’s seamless selector, deep sub bass line roller, South London O.G Allstar DJ CHEF.

23 years young Chefal aka Chef, hailing from the home of Dubstep, Croydon, South London. A master of the mix Chefal has been hosting a weekly Radio Show on London’s leading Rinse Fm (12 years on air) for the last 4 years. When Chefal isn’t playing the latest dubs at raves he’s busy making them @ Transition Studios, while training to become a Mastering Engineer and managing the mighty Ringo Records!!

From his early secondary school days, Chefal was spending all his pocket and dinner money on the latest Jungle down at Big Apple on a Friday. He grew up listening to stations like Kool Fm, Weekend Rush, Rinse, Upfront, and London Underground etc while playing Mario and Streetfighter in his bedroom.

Chefal Started listening to and buying House n Garage around 1997, when it got darker and more bass line influenced but still kept up to date with the Jungle and D’n'B until bout 2002. Cefol’s sound that he’s pushing FWD>> foremost is Dub step and the best based out Grimy beats. ”For me it’s the bass line that makes me feel a tune”, .

Chefal hooked up with Benga and Skream 8 or so years back through Big Apple Records (Croydon) and has been the main DJ in the crew, Smooth Kriminals since so Benga and Skream could concentrate on the production side of things but watch out for some beats from Chefal soon. Chefal rinses out the freshet dubz first from everybody who’s sound he’s feeling including… Benga and Skream, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, L.D, Plastician, Cyrus, Tubby, N-Type, Conquest and Silkie, Walsh, Martyn, Burial, Kode 9, Clue Kid and Cotti, Pinch, Jakes, Kutz, Joker, Distance, Hijak, Kromestar etc to name a few.

Chefal’s upfront selection and skills on the decks have led to him djing around the World. Over the last year Chef has been spreading the Dubstep virus through out the UK and Europe to all around the world such as Seattle and LA in America. This will be Chef’s first journey down under to the pacific for a exclusive N.Z Tour to show his perspective on the highly addictive sound.

Chef Quote “ For me it’s all about heavyweight bass, big tunes and good vibes.”

“A true visionary in the development of UK Dubstep”

Dave Jones, AKA Zed Bias, Maddslinky, Phuturistix…. a producer and DJ from deep within the UK dance music scene. He scored his first top 30 track with ‘Neighbourhood’ before setting the blueprint for the darker UK Garage sound at the end of the 90s. He was asked to mix the definitive “Sound of the Pirates” compilation and at this time began to infuse a jazzier influence into his tracks. Alongside remixes for DJ Zinc, The Streets, Kosheen, DJ Hype, Bugz n the Attic and London Electricity, Zed was instrumental in the formation of an alternative urban scene that was more about the music than fashion brands.

2001 saw the emergence of the club Forward London. Forward was critical to the development of Dubstep which original residents included Zed Bias, Hatcha, Youngsta, Kode9, Oris Jay, Slaughter Mob, Jay Da Flex, and Slimzee plus regular guests. Around this time Zed Bias dropped his 2nd mix compilation Bingo Beats vol 2 on DJ Zinc’s Bingo beats imprint, a compilation that reflected the evolving deep bass and breaks driven mutations of the pre Dubstep era.

His legendary albums Maddslinky – “Make Your Peace” and Phuturistix “Feel It Out” allowed for an alternative musical outlet for Zed’s production, combining the depth of soul and jazz-past with the tuff swing of garage beats. These brilliantly crafted albums accentuated his outstanding song writing talent collaborating with musicians and vocalists including Bugz n the Attic, Jenna G, Injekta, Nicky Prince & Mark de Clive-Lowe.

2008 has Zed Bias back in the studio returning to his darker sub bass driven experiments with his very own heavyweight Sidestepper label resurfaced and some impressive forthcoming Dubstep releases on Aquatic Lab currently being battered on Dub plate by a number of stalwart Dubstep DJ’s including N-type, Benga, Skream, Hatcha, and Kode 9.

Ghost dubs proudly welcomes one of the most innovative and diverse producers in the UK responsible for reshaping the underground Garage sound. In support, Wellington’s Dubstep crew, Strictly138 bringing fresh original NZ Dub plates with special guest DJ Ekim. Zed’s set begins at midnight! Don’t miss!

Dizzee Rascal

September 25, 20088:00 pm

Brace yourself and count to ten because Dizzee Rascal, the original Bow badman on the mic, is coming back to finish what he started when he blew the roof off the Supertop at the Big Day Out 2008. Ramming the tent to absolute capacity (and beyond) for the busiest and most rapturously received set of the day, Dizzee showed why he has an unimpeachable rep as a superlative spitter and A-Class entertainer.

Undoubtedly the geezer who is a great deal more than ‘Just A Rascal’, is the most successful MC to ever come out of the UK and one of the few anywhere whose reputation becomes more potent with every performance. Riding high on the success of his third and latest opus ‘Maths + English’, which came laced with grimey goodness and ballistic boomshots like ‘Sirens’, ‘Pussy’ole’ and ‘Flex’ the man they call the Raskit is prepped to give Auckland another lesson. Also on the curriculum is some heat-increasing history with tonal tutorials like ‘I Luv U’, ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’, ‘Stand Up Tall’ and ‘Dream’. Expect the Mercury Prize winning mic monster to be dishing out the new school science with the freshly released, misspelt monster ‘Dance Wiv You’ but most of all expect one of the biggest nights of the year.
